The Great British Bake Off moves to Channel 4 from 2017

The big news story of the week is that the BBC have lost one of our favourite shows GBBO, Channel 4 will now air the hit show after signing a new three-year agreement with the producers, Love Productions. The stars, sets and themes may remain, though we wonder if Channel 4 will want to adapt the show in any way after apparently bidding 25 Million for the rights! Many viewers may feel they’ve used their license fee’s to launch this show and now on it’s 7th season and zenith- it’s off!

reported’ The move to Channel 4 may also come at a higher price – the loss of popular judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood, along with hosts Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc.

According to the BBC’s David Sillito, the show’s presenters had only just been told about the news and negotiations with them had yet to begin.’

Jay Hunt, Channel 4’s Chief Creative Officer said: “Channel 4 is very proud to be the new home for The Great British Bake Off. I’m delighted we have been able to partner with the hugely talented team at Love Productions to keep this much loved show on free-to-air television.”
