I have a black car and under certain light, it’s now covered in fine swirl marks. I’m pretty sure it’s from my washing routine, probably not rinsing off the dust properly first or using the wrong cloth. I’ve started looking into car detailing and surface protection tips to figure out where I’m going wrong. A really comprehensive guide I found explains that the first step should always be a thorough rinse to remove abrasive sand before any contact. It also recommends using a pH-neutral shampoo with the two-bucket method, washing in the shade to avoid water spots, and always drying with a soft microfiber towel by patting, not rubbing. It also stresses the importance of waxing every few months to add a protective layer against UV rays. I realized I’ve been skipping several of these steps. My question for those who have mastered the art of keeping paint flawless is, what’s your exact routine and what products do you trust? Also, is a ceramic coating worth it to make future cleaning safer and easier? I’m ready to overhaul my whole approach.
